Frequently asked questions
Does Ambertide sync between my devices?
Not yet. Sync is tied to your account and is coming soon. Until then, your data stays on the device where you created it. In Settings → Account, email accounts show “Sync: coming soon” and guests show “On this device only”.
If you're using Ambertide as a guest, create an account now so your plans will be ready to sync when it launches.
How do I move from Guest to an account?
Go to Settings → Account and choose Create an account to sync. Enter your name, email and a password. Everything you created as a guest comes with you: nothing is lost or reset.
If you signed out of a guest session, choose “Continue without an account” on the same device to get back to it, then upgrade from Settings.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings → Account → Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. This erases the account, its password and all of its data from this device, then signs you out. Guests see Delete all data on this device instead.
This can't be undone. On the web, use Settings → Data → Export JSON first if you want a copy.
Why didn't I get a reminder?
- Check that notifications are allowed for Ambertide (on the web, in your browser's site settings) and that the reminder type is on in Settings → Notifications.
- On the web, reminders only fire while Ambertide is open in a browser tab. If the tab was closed or the computer was asleep, the reminder is skipped. The iPhone and Mac apps can remind you while closed.
- Focus modes and Do Not Disturb can hide notifications.
- Deadline reminders stop once every task for that deadline is done, and at-risk alerts only appear when the remaining work no longer fits before the due date.
My widgets aren't updating
- Home Screen and desktop widgets refresh on a schedule set by the system, so they can lag by a few minutes. Opening Ambertide refreshes them.
- Low Power Mode and Background App Refresh settings can delay updates.
- If a widget still looks stuck, remove it and add it again.
Weather or my location isn't showing
- Make sure location access is allowed for Ambertide (on the web, for this site in your browser). “Location off” on the widget means access was denied, so it shows your saved city instead.
- You can always search for a city in the weather widget settings instead of using your location.
- Weather needs an internet connection. If the service is briefly unavailable, try again in a few minutes.
Stock prices look delayed or wrong
Quotes come from Yahoo Finance's public data. It isn't an official market feed and may be delayed (often 15 minutes or more) or occasionally inaccurate. If quotes can't be fetched, the widget shows clearly labelled demo data instead.
Stock data in Ambertide is for information only and is not investment advice.
